VIKING RING - AEGISHJALMUR WOLVES
Wolves were a prominent symbol in many Norse artifacts and sagas, often with different meanings. Fenrir, the son of Loki and Angrboða, is one of the central figures, prophesied to break free from his chains, swallow the sun and moon, and eventually devour Odin during the Battle of Ragnarök.
However, not all wolves in Norse mythology were seen as evil. Odin, the Allfather, was often depicted with two loyal wolves by his side, named Geri and Freki. These faithful companions followed Odin into battle and roamed with him across the realms.
Aegishjalmur is a symbol of protection and victory. The word "Aegishjalmur" is derived from two Old Norse words: "aegis," meaning "shield," and "hjalmr," meaning "helm." Viking warriors would carve this symbol between their eyebrows to protect themselves from their enemies as they entered battle. The symbol was believed to offer not just physical protection but also spiritual strength.
This handcrafted Viking ring features the Aegishjalmur symbol along with the wolves, representing both protection and the deep connection between Odin and his loyal companions.
