Freyr, Norse God Wooden Carving Statue
Honour your favourite Norse gods and goddesses with this amazingly detailed statue!
Freyr was one of the most widely revered and passionately worshipped deities among the pagan Northmen and other Germanic peoples. In an Old Norse poem, he is referred to as "the first of the gods" and "hated by no one." The reasons for this are not hard to understand: their well-being and prosperity depended on his goodwill, which manifested particularly in sexual and ecological fertility, bountiful harvests, wealth, and peace. His role in providing health and abundance was often symbolised by his fylgja, the wild boar Gullinborsti ("Golden Bristles").
It is therefore not surprising that Freyr was often sacrificed on various occasions, such as the blessing of a wedding or the celebration of a harvest. During harvest festivals, his favourite animal, the boar, was traditionally sacrificed.
The statue is made from beautiful oak wood, featuring a highly detailed design and a good weight. It makes a great gift for anyone interested in Norse mythology.
